Lofoten and the Fjords

Lofoten is the reason most people come north, and the western fjords are what they fly over to get there, so this trip gives both their own half. The northern days work out of Reine, with short, steep walks up to viewpoints above the water and a chartered boat for the arms of coast the road cannot reach. The southern days run Geirangerfjord and the Trolltunga country above it. It suits travellers who want to be on the water more than in a bus, and who don't mind an early start for the best light.

How it runs

Fishermen's cabins in Reine anchor the first four nights, with a chartered boat and skipper on call for the days the group heads out to the outer islands. A small coach then covers the run south to Geiranger, where three nights leave room for a full day at Trolltunga and a fjord crossing at first light. Between October and February the last two nights move north to Tromso for the aurora.
